What
is our purpose?
The purpose of the workshops is to provide
high quality, academically challenging, spiritually uplifting classes
to supplement, support, arid encourage, but not to replace, what is
being learned at home. We are not a school and do not intend to be
one. By workshop we mean "a brief, intensive educational program for
a relatively small group of people in a given field that emphasizes
participation in problem-solving efforts".
Our workshops are a unique educational experience
in that we combine a high level of commitment from parents, students,
and teachers. We are a ministry strongly committed to supporting
home education, and intend only to aid and supplement what dedicated
families are already pursuing at home.
The workshops are designed to meet the needs of
families with children ages K - 12. Pre school classes are
offered strictly for those families with registered older siblings.

How Does
A Family Join?
1. Parents need to read the Information and
Policy
Handbook. The Handbook contains the Statement
of Faith, rules and regulations, class descriptions, etc.
2. If the family agrees with the vision of HHSW
and can willingly submit to the rules, the family should fill out
an application.
3. Bring this completed application to the Elgin
Evangelical Free Church on registration day. New families must apply
in person with their children. Prior to registering for the first
time, a brief interview is held with a board member.

|
| What are
our Spiritual Objectives?
The spiritual objective of Heritage Home
School Workshops shall be to provide an academic environment which
supports the Christian faith. HHSW instructors and board members
must, therefore, understand the foundational function of the HHSW
Statement of Faith and be in agreement with the Statement
of Faith or the Nicene
Creed

| Volunteer Requirements
Heritage is a Homeschool co-op. This means
everyone involved must play a part in keeping the organization running.
Parental Involvement is a requirement and not an option. A Parent
from each family must be on the premises for the entire time that
your child(or children) are in the building.
In order for the Workshops to run smoothly,
each family needs to volunteer at least three to five hours per month. There
are a number of options available to you to fulfill this requirement
such as helping with cleaning, cafe assistance, hall monitoring, and nursery duty. If a family does
not keep its commitment to share in the responsibilities at HHSW,
it will not be eligible to register for classes the following semester.

Why
we have a Dress Code?
HHSW has adopted the following dress code
for three compelling reasons. First, to ensure that everyone is dressed
modestly, thereby protecting the purity of our brothers and sisters
in Christ (see I Timothy 2:9) Second, to promote a serious academic
atmosphere and eliminate potential distractions to learning and
lastly to encourage the development of God-honoring relationships based
on individual character instead of outward appearance (see I Samuel
16:7; James 2:14). For complete guidelines about the dress code
please look in the policy handbook portion of this website.

|
| What Are the
Costs?
There are registration, building, and cleaning
Fees. These fees do not cover the cost of the classes your children
will attend. Each teacher will determine the class fees. For more
detail information please see the policy handbook section of this
site.

Statement
of Faith
Our Statement
of Faith concerns the Person and Work of Jesus Christ as revealed
in the Scriptures. There are many other truths taught in the Bible,
over which godly men have differed in opinion and understanding.
Therefore, this is not a statement of all that is important to believe,
but it represents the basic principles upon which the workshops
were founded and continue to operate. (Romans 15:5-6)
