Description:
Learning to sing in a group is fun! Ages three through Preschool will learn how much fun a choir can be through music games, stories and of course singing! We will touch on rhythm, breathing, counting and many other principles during the lessons using activities and the songs we will be singing. Developing a love for music at a young age is known to be a key to a child’s future music experiences. This choir should encourage children develop a love for music that will be carried throughout the rest of their lives!
About the Teacher: Rebecca Knottnerus is a homeschool graduate and professional singer. Her love of music has matured over the years since she did her first solo on stage at age eight during a Homeschool Fine Arts Festival. Rebecca sang with the Elgin Children’s Chorus for 41/2 years, was the 2004 Kane County Talent Contest winner, and guest singer at ICHE’s 2005 homeschool convention. Currently, she is studying to earn an internationally recognized degree through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in Vocal Performance. Rebecca has taught private voice lessons for many years, and sings for weddings, special events, and her church. She also enjoys directing the children’s choirs at Heritage.
Description: Along with the creative and catchy songs that emphasize Christian values from the Patch the Pirate curriculum, this choir will be learning proper breathing techniques, will investigate rhythm, phrasing, counting, tonal quality, and will start to learn to read music. These principles will be taught with songs, fun activities, and games. A goal of this class is to expose students to Godly music with character building principles that are catchy and enjoyable to sing!
