The Abeka text for this course presents a Scriptural view of working and the American economic system. We will cover the practical aspects of financial life, with units on buying a car, short- and long-term budgeting, banking, investing, purchasing a home, retirement plans, life insurance, filing tax returns and related topics.
Homework will take about 45 minutes each day. A basic calculator will be needed. Class taught by Karen Stevenson. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration, and a Master’s of Business Administration from American University in Washington, DC. She worked as a financial analyst until the birth of their first child, and is now a Senior Tax Advisor with H&R Block. This is their 11th year of homeschooling their four children, ages 15, 13, 10 and 6.
