This class will attempt to work through some of the beginnings of modern western thought. We will be looking at the way in which wisdom is viewed by both God and man. We will read about some great adventures and study some famous speeches, men and their words. More importantly, my goal is to challenge each student to make their faith in Jesus Christ the most important thing in his or her life. This passion for Jesus can be so emboldened when one knows how to put words to thought. We will be reading some works of some of the greatest minds our world has known. Whether these people arouse anger, passion or inspiration, hopefully, at the very least, they will move us into action. We will journey through time looking at the thoughts of those who shaped the thoughts of those around them.
Our text will include some or all of these works:
- The Bible
- The Epic of Gilgamesh
- The Odyssey--Homer
