1ST SEMESTER: Students need the firm foundation that this unique class will provide to become informed, responsible citizens and voters. The core of this class will be the United States Constitution, the government it established, and the rights and privileges it guarantees all American people. American Government opens with an inspiring look at the blessings we enjoy and the symbols we hold dear as Americans.
SECOND SEMESTER: This is a one semester course of Economics. The class will be covering the American economy starting with World War I. We will be able to understand and manipulate numbers working with millions, billions, and trillions. We will cover the gross domestic product and how it is measured. We will also cover inflation, unemployment and monetary policies. *The student will need basic algebra skills to take this class. Please see me if you have any questions regarding the math formula we will be using. This is a low homework subject 4-8 pages of reading from the weekly handouts will be required. For the students who count credits for high school, this course is ½ credit towards your graduation requirements. One field trip will be taken with this course to a local bank.
:
FIRST SEMESTER: Abeka American Government #38733, 2 green pocket folders, pencils, spiral notebook and loose leaf paper. Optional Items: pens (black or blue only), three ring binder (if you wish to keep all your assignments together and a place to keep your loose leaf paper)
NOTE: I would like assignments to be done on loose leaf paper. It is neater than pages torn from a spiral notebook. The spiral notebook is for taking notes and writing down assignments.
SECOND SEMESTER: The class will be using weekly handouts and the business section of the newspaper. You do not need a book for this course. A three-ring binder will be required to keep all assignments together.
I have been a home school mom for 3 years. I started in the banking industry right after high school. I taught for 2 years at Alden Nursing Home as a Psycho Social Therapist. (My youngest student was 75 years old.) I went back to banking for one and one-half years until I started home schooling my children again. I’m a Post Prison Missionary and teach economics on a daily basis to the women in my program. I look forward to being your children’s teacher.
$3.75 per class, plus a one time $7.50 copy/misc.
