This will be a challenging and fun class. I am passionate about helping students get excited about the world and its people. Geography is so much more that just learning the location of places! Our primary curriculum will be Geography Matters® Trail Guide to World Geography supplemented with The Ultimate Geography and Timeline Guide. We will use God’s World News to discuss current events from a Biblical worldview. We will use Window on the World to discover how God is at work in the places we study and how we can pray for various people groups. Students will have daily homework including atlas research questions, mapping exercises and reading of God’s World articles. Class activities will include hands on projects (such as making 3-D maps), games, work on geography notebooks, and tests.
:
One 2”-3 ring binder with 8 dividers, Rand McNally Intermediate Student Atlas ($6.95), colored pencils, fine tipped markers. Internet access would be very helpful as there are many games and mapping exercises that I’ll be recommending to the students.
I have a B.S. in Behavioral Sciences from the United States Air Force Academy and a M.S. in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle University. My passion for geography was kindled during my 20 years as a pilot in the Air Force. The majority of my time in the Air Force was spent teaching student pilots. In 2003, I retired so that I could stay home with my 4 children. I have organized the local National Geographic Bee for the last 2 years, and hope to help more students feel confident about participating in this fun event.
$4.00 per child/class plus a one time $5.00 material fee this semester. Also, God’s World classroom subscription (12 issues first semester $4.00, 14 issues second semester $4.50)
