Description:
My name is Stacey Borrego and I have been signing for 13 years.  After graduating from High School I started attending the Interpreting Program at Waubonsee Community College.  I have worked with a mission organization called Deaf Opportunity Out Reach (DOOR), traveling and living with deaf people for a year.  While I was with DOOR I worked at the kids deaf summer camp for 2 summers, deaf teen summer camp, traveled here in the States to deaf/hearing churches, and deaf/hearing schools performing songs in American Sign Language (ASL ) and sharing the need to reach and build deaf churches here and in other countries.  After working with Door, I started working as an aide in a deaf preschool classroom in Hanover Park.  Since this time I have interpreted at Fox Valley Bible Church and later at Grace Bible Church.  When I was living out in Colorado I taught a sign class to teachers, parents, and siblings at my daughters special needs school.  Over the past 2 years I have been teaching sign classes and music in sign classes at my home.

In the class we will be learning American Sign Language (ASL ) vocabulary and eventually conversation.  We will focus on finger spelling, vocabulary, correct grammar structure, and facial expressions.  Incorporated in the classes will be some deaf history and culture.  We will be signing with each other every class so we can learn to sign and read sign.  There will be some homework.

Course Requirements:
The students will be hand selected by Josh Guge. Guidelines are set up by Josh AND any student who hasn't participated in any of his previous classes must have their work evaluated by him.

About the Teacher:
I was home schooled and am home schooling 2 of my 3 children.  My daughter who I am not home schooling has Kabuki Syndrome.  This means that she is partially blind/deaf, cognitively delayed, sensory issues, and etc.

I look forward to opening a new wonderful world of the beautiful language of American Sign Language for you!

Fee:
The fee will be $5 a class per person.
