Join us this semester as we use the Christian Heroes: Then and Now (YWAM publishing) series to travel together through Germany, rubbing shoulders with the Nazis beside Corrie ten Boom (Keeper of the Angels Den) and behind Russia’s communist iron curtain to deliver bibles with Brother Andrew (God’s Smuggler).

STUDENT EXPLORATIONS: Essay writing*, creative writing*, hands-on projects (*Parent’s standards for writing mechanics).
SOCIAL STUDIES: Project maps, geography, terms/vocabulary, critical thinking, culture (past and present).

BIBLE STUDY: Devotional application, spiritual concepts.

REAL LIFE APPLICATIONS: We, as a class, will send bibles to China and other countries where bibles are desperately needed through the Open Doors ministry founded by Brother Andrew. We will complete other service projects that may fit our class as appropriate – at least one in our community. We will strive to develop a heart and awareness for people who are currently devoting their lives to God in the mission field today by: learning to pray for them and getting to know them personally by inviting those who are on furlough in our area to visit our class.

ADDITIONAL THEMES TO EXPLORE: translating languages, current events, cultural music - food - activities - art.

Some weekly work will be required - reading up to three chapters a week plus - from time to time - any assignment from the above curriculum areas, especially if we’re working on a special project. I expect most work will be completed during class time. I encourage you to read together with your student or as a family if you wish.

Please provide texts for your student: YWAM Publishing: Christian Heroes Then and Now Series -- Corrie ten Boom (Keeper of the Angels' Den) and Brother Andrew (God's Smuggler).

Each text is priced between $6.99-$8.99 and can often be found for less as used at www.Amazon.com. All other expenses are covered by copy/material fee.

If we have 12 or more students ordering, we may receive a group discount from YWAM: $4.25 ea. Book.

About the Teacher:
I attended Judson College and have home schooled my two children for going on our 8th year. This will be my third year teaching at Heritage where I have previously taught science and literature as well as Christian Heroes. This class embraces my passion for missions and my natural tendency to study many different aspects of a subject at one time. My hope is that my students, too, will discover that they have a heart for the same.

Fee:
1/2 of the copy/material fee is due at registration -- the second half will be due by third co-op date. (*this fee provides for all student copies and materials used for the semester including community/mission projects and gifts of gratitude to our missionary visitors, and our class culminating event. I prefer tuition payment in full ($60) by third co-op date. However, I will accept monthly payments on the first Monday of each month. Please indicate which payment option you choose.
